![]() The rear seat is completely taken over by a pair of Magnaflow mufflers. ![]() Apparently the inside is all custom done and nothing like the original Dodge Dayton design, it was completely customized for the movie. Like the Ramp Car it houses a GM Turbo 400 three-speed automatic transmission. It also has the identical 430 horsepower rating. It is powered by a GM 6.2-liter LS3 V8, as are most of the cars in this movie. Several other modifications were made to this reproduction, but let’s skip that and get to the interesting stuff. They also changed the headlights fixing them under Plexiglas unlike the original pop-up design. Unfortunately this is not an authentic Daytona, it was built for the mover to decrease costs as well as shorten the standard nose length. Moving on to the poster boy of Fast 6, the 1969 Dodge Charger Daytona. These pipes can be seen snaking over the engine, this may not be the most efficient design, but it sure looks cool. The ramp car also has custom pipes for each cylinder. Its low riding body make it easy to see the read Hoosier 31-by-16.5 inch tires. This monster may ride low, but it is actually pretty long and wide stretching out about 160 inches over a 130-inch wheelbase. Power is sent into a GM turbo 400 three-speed automatic transmission. Uniquely however, the LS3 is mounted backward. The car houses a 6.2-liter LS3 V8 engine and is rated at 430 horsepower. It’s probably not the most comfortable ride with its three separate passenger pods, not that that matters as long as it’s fast. It is also equipped with hydraulic steering. ![]() Bringing it around to the backside you’ll find a Dana 60 rear axle. The front suspension of this monster is from a 3/4-ton mid-80s GM pickup truck with the original coils replaced by air springs. This car is made from a ladder from 3-by-6 inch rectangular steel tubing. Three had working side exhausts "McCarthy omitted them from the fourth car because he didn't want Michelle Rodriguez to worry about burning her legs on them".The aptly named Ramp Car was custom built for Fast 6. The only cars, you can see here, which have those tints, are private cars from US servicemen.Īccording to Edmunds, they used four Interceptors, all LHD models found in California, which were pimped and re-engined for the film. When you want to get a registration for an import car, for example from the USA, you have to replace the windows. Tinted windows as above, are forbidden for the front and the front side windows. It crops up occasionally where footballers get caught out, sometimes with personal imports from other countries, particularly from outside EU. I think UK is more restrictive than some other countries - windscreens must allow 75% of light through and front side windows 70%. I wonder if there is any place that allows tinted windscreens(windshields)? And black privacy glass is illegal for windscreens in UK. Also still suspicious that rear underside in main looks so empty and how it has such smaller rear tyres than other footage suggests. ![]() Plate is NAE 423K but not a period issue and nowt on check sites. The 4wd version was the FF (Ferguson Formula), not Interceptor.įrom extended trailer about 2:04. The original car was the first ever with ABS Sounds like a swell combination of engine and car.shame it gets beat up, though. More footage needed to be sure but smells S2 or S3 if anything genuine.Ī Viper V10, eh? That actually doesn't sound wrong for an Interceptor, since they originally used Chrysler V8s in the interceptor. I also thought it was a dummy for having no rear exhaust pipe until realising that what I thought were nasty sill extensions was a side pipe. Unconvincing, unless a very badly pimped original. Supposed to be an Interceptor, but it's more than likely a replica.
